June 2022 Updates

A new update schedule, new stories, and new recommendation.

Hello again! Welcome to our blog post for the month of June. It's summer in the Northern Hemisphere right now, but where I live, rain has started to pour over the land.

If you're wondering why our blog came out on a Sunday, that's because I readjusted our schedule to make more time for writing and housework. From now on, we'll get the posts and newsletters on the first Sunday of each month, around 9:00 PM PST. The updates below will further explain why the shift had to happen.

By the way, don't forget to read about our recommendation as well.

Ann's Updates

Because of three complicated, multi-page editing requests that came in this month, I wasn't able to put as much time into our Fantasy Romance manuscipt as I wished to. We still have ten scenes to go through within the month, plus graphics and supplementary promo materials. The good news is, only one of the commissions remains unfinished. As soon as the final version ships out to the client, we'll be back to working on those delicious scenes in our book. In the meantime, you can check out the short story below.

This is one of two entries that won major spots in the Chubbiverse character writing contest. Basically, we had to come up with backstories or scenes for the underdog-type characters in their art lineup. Of the two, I like the one for Snaps more. If you want to find out more about his story, just click on the picture above.

As for the collection we talked about last month, you can finally read it online! Just click on the picture below to access the ongoing updates. I post new entries every weekend, so you can tune in during Sundays for the latest "chapter." Or you can binge-read as soon as I announce that the first volume is complete. That announcement will probably come out on our Facebook page.

You can stay tuned at the same page for the latest word on our manuscript which will hopefully have a finished full draft by the start of July.

Ann Recommends

I thought Irina would be the last anime recommendation for a while, but boy was I wrong! We have an equally impressive story on our hands in the form of a Science Fiction Drama series called 86.

I do not own the rights to this image. It was added as a supplementary illustration for the purpose of critique and information dissemination.

In this anime adaptation of author Asato Asato's light novel, you will find happiness, heartbreak, and hard-hitting themes that challenge even the most popular wartime stories out there. I'll mention the military-inspired robotic weapons, wonderfully animated combat scenes, and cast of characters with unique story arcs for good measure.

The series revolves around Vladilena Milize, Handler of the Spearhead Squadron headed by combat captain Shinei Nouzen. Both characters stand on opposite spectrums of the social heirarchy of San Magnolia, with Vladilena being a decorated officer and Shinei being a shunned outcast because of his ethnicity. Despite their differences, they manage to work together along with the rest of the remaining squadron members.

I was originally going to write a full review of this amazing series, but our super-tight May schedule got in the way of that. Instead, I'll leave discovering the charm and power of this masterpiece to you. I promise that if you're into deeply philosophical themes with a touch of true-to-life relationships, it will be worth your time.

I hope you had fun catching up on our latest news and recommendation for this month. To stay in touch, feel free to visit our Facebook page from time to time. You can also head over to the various writing accounts I link in these blogs. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this post. I hope you have a great day!
